Familia antigua y muy noble originaria del reino de Sicilia, condecorada con títulos marciales y baroniales y propagada, a lo largo de los siglos, en diversas regiones del Reino. Entre los primeros personajes ilustres encontramos a Antonino Albergo, barón de Nucifora y Granvilla, el primero de los cuales pasó a su hija Giovanna en Bottiglieri, que obtuvo la investidura el 27 de abril de 1641; la segunda baronía fue transmitida en la misma fecha a su otra hija Filippa en Stella. Posteriormente encontramos un Ignazio Albergo en la ciudad de Vizzini con el cargo de jurado noble en el año 1724. En el papel de las donaciones de 1806 encontramos un Paolo Albergo Palazioli conocido como marqués de Cimarra. Otra familia.
