Descene esta família de D. Fernão Gomes de Aça, rico-homem que vivia nos princípios dos século XIII, segundo senhor de Albornoz, que herdou de seu pai, D. Gomes Garcia de Aça, senhor, de Aça, Aylon e Roa e alferes-mor de Castela, que o houve em sua mulher D. Maria Garcia. De D. Fernão Gomes de Aça foi filho legítimo D. Álvaro Fernandes de A., que sucedeu a seu pai no senhorio de que tomou apelido, o qual é uma aldeia situada no distrito de Cuenca, e foi tambén alcaide de Mayo. Dele provêm os Albornozes de Espanha, de onde passaram a Portugal. Por causa dum crime veio para Portugal Pedro de A., fidalgo castelhano, parente muito próximo do cardeal D. Gil de A., bispo de Sevilha, o qual se casou em Portelo, junto de Lamego, com Catarina Teixeira, filha de Gaspar Teixeira, e nesse lugar residindo e deixou geração. Os Albornozes são das mais antigas e ilustres famílias da Espanha, pois provêm dos Laras, que têm por varonia sangue da casa real de Leão.
