Linaje de buenos hijosdalgos alguno de los cuales se hallaron en la conquista de Baeza. Tuvo su solar en la villa de Gaviria, del partido judicial de Azpéitia, en Guipúzcoa. Una línea pasó a Zumárraga, del partido de Vergara, y de ella fué Francisco A., esposo de doña María de Galnaga, y ambos padres de Joaquín A. Galnaga, que casó con doña María Agustina Baraibar en la que procreó a Manuel Joaquín A. Baraibar, natural de San Sebastián, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Francisca Javiera Garro, a la que hizo madre de Angel Gil Alcain y Garro, Alcalde constitucional de San Sebastián y Caballero de la Orden de Carlos III , en la que ingresó en 1846. Martín y Miguel A., probaron su hidalguía en la Villarreal de Urrechu en 1654; Felipe A. y sus hermanos, en la misma villa, en 1756, y José Joaquín A., en Zumárraga, en 1826.
