Linaje aragonés muy antiguo y de ricoshombres de mesnada. Procede del lugar de A. del Obispo, de la provincia de Huesca, donde tuvo solar y del que sin duda tomó el nombre. Por los años de 1137, en el reinado de Don Ramiro II de Aragón, vivía Galín Jiménez de A., caballero muy notable.
