De origem milanesa, mudou-se para Treviso em 1420, exilado de sua terra natal por Filippo Maria Visconti. Um Giovanni Aliprando para se agradar do duque tentou matar Carmagnola. Perdeu as mercadorias que possuía na área milanesa e esperou no novo lar pelas artes e pelo comércio de especiarias. Entre essa família, sua origem na Lombardia, os idiomas maliciosos não podem criticar contra a origem muito antiga e o progresso dessa família muito clara. De origem lombarda, suas primeiras memórias em Milão datam da época de Federico II, de acordo com Morgia Paolo na "Nobreza de Milão dividida em seis livros" impressa em Milão em 1595. O mesmo autor relata que este é um dos mais nobres e antigos Famílias de Milão.
