A origem desse sobrenome ilustre, por referências de historiadores da época e outros encontrados por Araldis nos arquivos de registro de cidades e de outros particulares, poderíamos afirmar, mas não garantir, que esse escudo ou outro muito semelhante a ele apareceu inicialmente no XI ao século XIV, particularmente na campanha contra o Islã que acompanha as hostes de D. Alfonso, senhor de Molina e irmão de Fernando III, o Santo Rei de Castela, na batalha dos campos de Jerez em 1231 contra Aben Hud. As referências dessa família parecem ser necessárias com mais frequência do século XV ao século XIX, especialmente os eventos de comemoração dos festivais e justas que foram celebrados em Madri por ocasião da vinda de D. Carlos, príncipe de Gales, filho de Jacobo Eu, na época de Felipe IV. Tudo isso parece coincidir com a memória da família de alguns dos membros do ramo da família
