Sono antichi nobili Romani, poichè come tali furono riconosciuti da Papa Eugenio IV, quando nel 1443 regalò ottantasei nobili Romani di abiti di drappo sontuosi, tra i quali, come riferisce il Petrone nel Diario, fu Liello de Alek, e Martino V li mette nel Bussolo dei Nobili Romani, e ho memorie più antiche nel Catasto del Salvatore del 1819. Dom. Catherina, uxor Joannis Alek regionis Arenulae, sepulta in SS. Laurentij et Damasi. Questa memoria denota antichità e nobiltà precedente, e, per la poca cura, le memorie passate sono smarrite. E del 1450 nel med. Catasto Dom. Ceccha uxor olim Alexij jacet in S. Pauli de Arrenula. E del 1442 Dom. Catherina filia Colae Cecchi de Alek, e molte altre simili ne' tempi susseguenti, nei quali si vedono anche diversi Istromenti. E nel med. Catasto di legge Dom. Lelius de Leis Canonicus Basilicae Principis Apostolorum sepultus in S. Andreae de Nazarenis.
