La familia es de origen lombardo. Desde 1517 es propietaria de fondos en el área de Varese y tenía una casa en Milán donde los alemagnas eran para títulos sucesivos continuos o notarios o juristas colegiados. Don Giuseppe recibió el título de Conde con un Diploma otorgado en Viena el 10 de junio de 1756, en poder del Senado milanés el 15 de julio del mismo año. El 20 de julio de 1756, el Magistrado de la Cámara de Comercio del Estado de Milán ordenó que el mencionado Don Giuseppe fuera incluido en el Catálogo de Titulados Existentes con el mismo Magistrado, por el feudo de Busnago y Roncello, de los cuales con la escritura del 21 de julio de 1756 de la Cámara Notarial de Comercio Giuseppe Casanova fue por la muerte del canon ordinario Schiaffinati, se invirtió para varones primogénitos con el título de Conde por 136 liras
