La famiglia è di origine Lombarda. Sin dal 1517 risulta proprietaria di fondi in territorio di Varese ed aveva casa in Milano ove gli Alemagna furono per continuati successivi gradi o Notai Collegiati o Giurisperiti. A Don Giuseppe fu concesso il titolo di Conte con Diploma dato a Vienna il 10 giugno 1756, interinato dal Senato Milanese il 15 luglio stesso anno. Il 20 luglio 1756, il Magistrato Camerale dello Stato di Milano ordinò di iscrivere il predetto Don Giuseppe nel Catalogo dei titolati esistente presso il Magistrato stesso, per il feudo di Busnago e Roncello, del quale con rogito 21 luglio 1756 del Notaro Camerale Giuseppe Casanova era stato investito, per la morte del Canonico ordinario Schiaffinati, per maschi primogeniti col titolo di Conte per lire 136 per fuoco, oltre lire 300 per aumento sul prezzo totale.
