Guglielmone Aliotta, capostipite della famiglia, fu un gentiluomo Parmigiano, dove la sua famiglia con lo splendore di vera nobiltà fiorì, congiungendosi in parentela con le nobili famiglie Bansoli, Calcaferro, San Vitale, e Santafiore di detta città di Parma. Questi servì molti anni, militando, il Re Federico II, e per l'acquisto della Castellania di Mazzara, piantò ivi la sua famiglia. Ebbe per moglie la figlia di Nicolò di Lerida, gentiluomo di Mazzara, il cui figlio sopra gli introiti della R.C. nel 1347, i quali, dopo la sua morte senza figli, lasciò a Federico Aliotta, suo cugino, secondo figlio di Guglielmone. Procreò Guglielmone, Giovanni, Federico, e Nicolò, due de' quali, essendosi casati nella città di Trapani, lasciarono nobile, e copiosa prole. Da Giovanni nacque Guglielmo, che nel 1394 fu Giurato della sua patria; e da Nicolò nacque, fra gli altri, Francesco, cavaliere assai spiritoso, il quale essendo giovinetto, fu mandato dalla città
