Esta familia normanda vino al Reino siguiendo a Roberto Guiscardo. Primero fue llamado de Letti o Leto por el feudo de Castel Letti, y luego Castelluccia y Pappasiderio por la posesión de los feudos de este nombre. Se dijo en el último nombre de Alitto preservado por los descendientes, y se dice que fueron llamados a usar las alas en el emblema. Esta familia disfrutó de nobleza en Sicilia y en las ciudades de Bitonto, Chieti, Sulmona, Bisignano, Tropea Castelluccia y Diano, donde se estableció una sucursal alrededor de 1600. La rama de Bitonto se extinguió en dos varones y una mujer casada con la familia Giannone con el acuerdo de que el novio y sus descendientes deberían agregar el nombre de d'Alitto a su apellido. La familia del noble señor feudal de la provincia de Salerno se extinguió en Francesco con quien su hermana, Persia, casada con Giovan Andrea
