Bekannt als Alunni oder Alunno, stammt diese edle Prosapia aus der Stadt Neapel, wo sie zu den „Sitzlosen“ gezählt wurde, die zwar nicht zu einem Sitz aggregiert waren, „ebenfalls aber auch ein Teil des neapolitanischen Adels, von nichts dazu der unteren Sitze". Die erste Person, von der wir sichere historische Nachrichten haben, ist ein Niccolò, ein berühmter Jurist, der zur Zeit von König Robert von Neapel aufblühte, von dem er viele Ländereien als Lehen erhielt und von dem er zum Großkanzler ernannt wurde. Andererseits trug diese Familie später auch zum Glanz von Neapel, Königreich und Stadt, bei, indem sie wertvolle Männer in den freien, administrativen und militärischen Berufen und in kirchlichen Karrieren hervorbrachte. Einer ihrer Zweige ging zwischen dem sechzehnten und siebzehnten Jahrhundert in die Gegend von Ferrara über, wahrscheinlich aus kommerziellen Gründen, und es muss die Vereinigung mit der anderen Familie gegeben haben, über die wir gleich sprechen werden:
