Ancienne et illustre famille, originaire du sud de l'Italie, dont un Ruggero, bourreau de Sicile et de Calabre en 1239, est digne de mention ; un Nicoberto, chevalier de Milazzo en 1283 ; un Giacomo, trésorier général du royaume de Sicile en 14523 ; un Antonio qui, avec le privilège R. du 5 mars au 14 décembre 1574, obtint le titre de chevalier royal; un Vito, baron del Grano, qui, avec privilège R. 19 septembre 1651-29 juillet 1652, obtint le même titre ; un Antonio qui, le 7 août 1759, obtint le titre de marquis pour lui-même et ses partisans ; un Francesco Carlo qui, le 21 mars 1777, obtint l'investiture du titre de duc Calvello anciennement Ossada. Avec une disposition de 1926 Sir Stefano, par Giuseppe Amico, a obtenu la reconnaissance du titre de noble. Autre branche.
