Antica famiglia romana, diramazione dell'omonimo nobilissimo casato, che ha goduto nobiltà ed ha posseduto illustri titoli in Sicilia, Campania e Toscana, la cui più antica memoria risale al 1308, ovvero in un istromento d'affitto, nel quale Nicolò Amodei conduce il casale detto Frassineti, dal monastero di San Ciriaco. Francesco, figlio del detto Nicolò, fondò una cappella sotto il titolo di Santa Maria e di San Gio. Battista, nella Chiesa di San Nicolò degli Arcioni ,del 1324 (nell'Archivio del Convento di San Marcello). Nel 1339 si trova Lorenzo de Amodei, scriba del Senato e precuratore del monastero di San Ciriaco (per istromento nell'Archivio di Santa Maria in Via Lata) e esercitò questa carica fin al 1337. Nel 1466 Bernardo, figlio di Lionardo Amodei, fu ammesso nella Confraternita del Salvatore. Callisto ed Antonio, furono conservatori di Roma, nel 1562. Nel 1653 notiamo un Felice Amodei (n. 1619), gentiluomo proveniente dal rione Pigna,
