Antigua familia romana, rama de la familia noble homónima, que disfrutaba de nobleza y poseía títulos ilustres en Sicilia, Campania y Toscana, cuyo recuerdo más antiguo se remonta a 1308, o en una instrucción de alquiler, en la que Nicolò Amodei lidera el casa de campo llamada Frassineti, del monasterio de San Ciriaco. Francesco, hijo de dicho Nicolò, fundó una capilla bajo el título de Santa María y San Gio. Battista, en la Iglesia de San Nicolò degli Arcioni, desde 1324 (en el Archivo del Convento de San Marcello). En 1339 se encuentra a Lorenzo de Amodei, escriba del Senado y precurador del monasterio de San Ciriaco (para instrucción en el Archivo de Santa María en Via Lata) y ejerció este cargo hasta 1337.
