Antica e nobile famiglia originaria di Trieste il cui blasone è menzionato nel "Dizionario storico blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane estinte e fiorenti" vol. primo, pag. 41, compilato dal Comm. G.B. di Crollalanza, edito presso la direzione del giornale araldico, Pisa 1890. Altro ramo. Nulla più di quanto, in una assai antica e preziosa pergamena araldica compare scritto di cotal famiglia può renderle lustro, ovvero: "Due volte have passato d'Italia in Sicilia la nobile famiglia A. detta nella nostra lingua Amodeo; la prima volta venne secondo Giovanni Tillio nel suo libro della guerra Guelfa, e Gibellina nel 1220. nel reggimento dell'Imperator Federico, sotto la guida di Corrado A., havendo prima dimorato tre anni in Milano col fratello Antonio che ivi il lasciò casato con Ursella Abbate, ed egli a soldo dell'Imperator Federico venne in Sicilia, e si maritò in Messina con Livia Papalèo nobile donzella.
