Count Don Pedro in his Genealogical Nobility and other accredited genealogists, assure that the solar and infanzizada house of the enlightened family of A. existed in the kingdom of Galicia, near Tuy, in the village of San Juan A. A line of the A.'s house spread in Portugal and became related to very main houses of that kingdom, distinguishing himself in the service of his sovereigns Don Alonso A. and his son Don Pedro A. He married this with Doña Gontina Cris, and both contributed effectively to the foundation of the Manente monastery. The surname A. resounded in the memorable battle of Las Navas de Tolosa, 1212, in which Diego, García and Juan A. García Gomez de A. were noted for their bravery and died fighting in the battle of Aljubarrota. In the aforementioned, Juan A. later accompanied the holy king Don Fernando III to the conquest of Seville, where he had a rich distribution with which King Don Alonso X, successor of San Fernando, rewarded him. The aforementioned Juan A. married in Seville, and was the trunk of several branches of this lineage that spread in Andalusia, and over time have contracted new connections with others in Castile and Estremadura, all coming from the primitive and original family of Galicia. Don Lope Diaz A. and Don Gonzalo A., descendants of the conquerors of Jaen, occupied an eminent place in the court of King Don Sancho IV: and Don Gonzalo related to the great house of the Riveras for his marriage to Doña Juana de Rivera and Velasco, of the family of the advanced ones of Andalusia.
