Seigneurs d'Annonay, très ancienne famille, que l'on connaît seulement par ses armes et son nom, conservés par les Roussillon, qui en héritèrent probablement au commencement du XIIIème siècle. Le nom d'Annonay se trouve accolé à celui de Roussillon. Les Annonay Roussilon, feudataires des comtes de Forez s'èteignirent au XIVème siècle, dans les Villars-Thoyre. Aymar, seigneur d'Annonay, rendit hommage d'Annonay au comte de Forez, en fèvrier 1237. Aymar II, seigneur de Roussillon et d'Annonay se maria quatre fois. Il ne laissa qu'une fille qui épousa en 1350 Humbert de Villars Thoyre, auquel elle porta Annonay. La distinction familiale représentée ici sous forme de blason, survit à travers les siècles grâce à des précieux témoignages qui nous ont permis de rapporter les exploits et les gestes de cette noble famille.
