Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: un seigneur de ce nom croisé en 1248 (Chartes latines de 1191 à 1249 relatives aux croisés, provenant du cabinet Courtois); Alain, marié à Tiphaine de Pestivien, entendu dans l'enquête pour la canonisation de saint Yves en 1330; Olivier et Alain son neveu, au nombre des écuyers du combat des Trente en 1350; Éven, marié en 1369 à Tiphaine le Vayer, dame de la Rigaudière, ratifie le traité de Guérande en 1381. La branche aînée fondue en 1432 dans Montauban, d'où la seigneurie de Keranraiz a appartenu successivement aux Rohan-Guémené, Boiséon et Hay de Bonteville; la branche de Coatcanton et de Kervastar fondue vers 1410 dans du Perrier, puis le Saux, Kerloaguen, Carné et de Plœuc. On trouve ce nom aussi écrit Keranraiz.
