Famiglia assai antica ed illustre, delle sue origini non ci sono notizie certe, si vuole originaria originaria di San Severo da un Antino di Giovanni ricco commerciante nel XVI secolo che contribuì alla colletta di Tiberio Solis per riscattare la città venduta nel 1521 da Carlo V a Ferdinando di Capua. Nel corso dei secoli alcuni membri della famiglia Antino si propagano in diverse regioni d'Italia, prevalentemente in Campania, Lazio, Emilia, Veneto e Trentino, tuttavia l'antichità della presente famiglia accompagnata con la scarsezza delle scritture non lascia scorgere il principio della sua nobiltà; e perciò a ragione gli scrittori e ricercatori confessano con tutta la loro investigazione di non sapere accertare la sua origine; ma non vedendo noi addurre ragione alcuna per farci credere questa opinione, che tiene anche dubbia, potremo ancor noi proferire la nostra, non opinione, ma certezza evidente, mentre viene da noi appoggiata ad alcune evidenti ragioni
