Antica e nobile famiglia che credesi originaria di Francia, stabilitasi a Lecce nel secolo XIV. Ebbe antico possesso di feudi, fra i quali la terra di Fragagnano che conservò fino alla abolizione della feudalità; ultimo intestatario Francesco Mara Lantoglietta nel 1780. Il 4 luglio 1701 venne decorata del titolo di marchese infisso sulla medesima terra, nella persona di Francesco Maria, titolo passato poi in altra famiglia. Questa famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco ufficiale col titoli di nobile per i discendenti di Lelio vivente nel 1814. Motto della famiglia: Semper ardentius. Altro ramo. Originaria della Normandia, si stabilì circa l'anno 850 in Provenza ed ebbe la signoria di Tours e di altri castelli, tra i quali Nantogliette presso Parigi di cui prese il nome.
