Antica e nobile famiglia emiliana, nobile in Modena sin dal XV sec., detta anche Turini o Turrini si è propagata, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Un Pietro Antonio Turrini spectabilis et eximius legum doctor fu Podestà di Sassuolo nel 1508, e la sua famiglia quivi si trapiantò nel 1522 e prese parte a quelle fazioni favoreggiando quella dei Mari Lei. Un Paolo Turini fu Podestà di reggionel 1463. Famiglia illustre e storica allo stesso tempo, però come dice il Dolfi nella sua "Cronologia delle famiglie nobili di Bologna, con le loro insegne, e nel fine i cimieri", stampato in Bologna presso Giovan Battista Ferroni nel 1670, proveniente da Bologna. Qual fosse ne' passati secoli nelle Città dell'Emilia, la Famiglia è molto noto a ciascuno, ch'abbia de' fatti di quella nobil Città veruna contezza.
