Famiglia anteriore al 1300. Prende il cognome da uno detto Strinato di Rainone secondo di sua famiglia proveniente da Lamporecchio nel 1240 e fu Alfiere in Fiandra, e aveva con sè una shiera di pistoiesi e perchè era piccolo lo chiamavano Alferolo, cioiè Alfiere piccolo. Servì in questa mansione Urbano VI, Papa legittimo eletto nel conclave Vaticano l'8 aprile 1378. Questo Pontefice era Arcivesovo di Bari dotto canonista, nato a Napoli nel 1318; alla sua elezione non venne però reso noto subito il suo nome, perchè non si trovava in Vaticano, e tra il popolo corse invece voce che fosse stato eletto un francese; ci fu un' irruzione nella sala del Conclave e i cardinali impauriti, per pendere tempo e calmare i rivoltosi, dissero che era stato eletto il vecchio Cardinale Romano Francesco Tebaldeschi.
