Antiga e nobre família da Ligúria nobre em Gênova desde tempos remotos e originalmente de Chiavari. Antonio, protetor do Compere di s. Giorgio em 1467; Élder da República em 1472. Sperindeo, Superior de S. Donato, fundou a Congregação de Sacerdotes Seculares em 1486. Diego Maria Min Osservante deixou as Memórias históricas e cronológicas da cidade, estado e governo do manuscrito de Gênova, que chegaram até 1799, e cujo original é mantido na biblioteca da Universidade. Uma nota de natureza diferente diz que o autor foi baleado pelos austríacos no Monte Fasce em 1800 como democrata. O brasão de armas da família Argiroffo é: D'azzurro, o leão segurando um lírio com o galho frontal direito e coberto com três outros lírios encomendados em bandas, todos em ouro.
