Familia de ciudadanos de Mallorca, que empezó a ser conocida a principios de siglo XV. Juan A. era señor feudal, en 1469, de la alquería de Benitarez, en Sineu; Juan Odón A. fue prefecto de sanidad del reino de Mallorca, en 1471. Juan A. sirvió en las guerras de Granada, en 1485. Jaime A, en 1499, dio principio a los sangrientos bandos de A. y Sanmartins, que duraron hasta 1635. Sebastián A. era jurado de Mallorca, en 1522. El cronista Alemany, en su nobiliario manuscrito, asegura que esta familia acabó a últimos del siglo XVI, pues no habiendo quedado de ella más que dos niños huérfanos, murieron arrojados por un esclavo desde lo alto de la torre del predio Son A. Otros autores, sin embargo, no mencionan ese suceso, por lo que se duda de su certeza. El marqués de Bellpuig, como sucesor de los españoles, poseyó hacienda en A.
