Antica famiglia del Regno di Napoli, discendente dalla nobile famiglia Arnes, oriunda delle Asturie, le cui prime vestigia rimontano al 1245, ovvero quando il Re di Castiglia, D. Ferdinando il Santo, in un luogo chiamato Pozuelo, ove poi venne fondata Ciudad Real, si incontrò con la propria madre. Tra i cavalieri facenti parte della scorta del detto re, infatti, rinveniamo uno Juan ed un Rodrigo Arnes. Inoltre, la presenza dell'arme, nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia, ci conferma l'avita nobiltà, raggiunta dalla stessa. Arme. "En plata, dos lobos pasantes, de sable, puestos en palo.
