In considerazione dei particolari servigi prestati alla Corona, specialmente nella qualità di Capitano delle Milizie Barracellari e di Censore locale di Oristano, il re Carlo Alberto, coi diplomi in data 23 aprile 1833, concedeva i privilegi di cavalierato e di nobiltà a Salvatore Arta, di Oristano, benemerito per aver fatto anche rilevanti e disinteressati prestiti a beneficio della pubblica annona e contribuito efficacemente allo sviluppo dell'agricoltura. Epperò il Sovrano volle disporre che i detti titoli fossero pure trasmissibili ai suoi figli e discendenti maschi. Da Francesco Maria e dalla sua moglie Giuseppa Melis nacque in Oristano il 15 novembre 1785 il predetto concessionario Salvatore, il quale, il 17 dicembre 1809, sposò in Oristano Anna Maria Marongiu, ed ebbe alcuni figli. Uno di essi, Don Francisco, nato in Oristano il 19 dicembre 1811, sposò Elisabetta Pinna; il loro figlio Giacomo, nato in Oristano il 6 dicembre 1864, sposò Emilia Raspi,
