Ancient and noble Spanish family, originally from the town of Azkoitia, the judicial district of Azpeitia, Guipuzcoa, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. The first references to the family already appear on the end of the twelfth century, about the re-population of Alava, being one of the families that founded Vitoria.
