A very ancient and noble native family of Provence, which spread in Sicily since the 14th century and, in the following centuries, in different regions of Italy. The cognomination, prior to the XII century, originally Authier or Authieri, probably derived from the Germanic name Autierius, reaches us Autieri due to transcription errors or dialectal inflections. This family was recognized in its nobility on the basis of evidence dating back to 1674, made official with a royal decree of 1708. The family was honored with a governor of Barcelona, a captain of a gendarmerie company and lieutenant-general in Provence, a holy bishop of Bethlehem, March 26, 1651.
