Antica ed assai nobile casata del Regno di Napoli, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in divere regioni d'Italia. La famiglia ha origine in Raito, località del Comune di Vietri sul Mare in costiera amalfitana. Il capostipite sarebbe un certo Pietro, figlio di Giuseppe, fiorente nel tardo XVII secolo. In Raito la famiglia ebbe i primari onori, giungendo i suoi membri ad essere menzionati, nei documenti ufficiali e parrocchiali, con gli appellativi di “Magnifico/a” e “don/donna”. La nobiltà della famiglia, in ogni modo, discende da un Vincenzo che, per successione di suo padre Mariano, fu investito del feudo di Mariglianella, il 26 aprile 1788.
