Fin da quando la Città di Treviso era soggetta all'Impero, vale a dire, prima del secolo decimo, quando la nobiltà dell'ora cessato suo Consiglio era valutata per una delle più cospicue, l'antica Famiglia, ora divisa nei quattro rami, appartenente a quel Collegio dei Nobili; e ciò sin dalla sua istituzione, che seguì l'anno 1388, mentre già nei tempi anteriori, alloraquando la marca Trevigiana si governava da sè con un governo misto di Aristocrazia e Democrazia, essa era costituita nel grado dei Militi ossia Cavalieri del grado maggiore. Nel 1389, in data 29 marzo, il Vescovo di Treviso, dietro raccomandazione fattagli dal Doge Andrea Contarini nel 1380 a favore di Rizzolino degli Azzoni assai benemerito della Repubblica, concesse ad essa Famiglia nella persona di Alteniero qu. Rizzolino l'Investitura dell'Avogarìa o Avocazia del Vescovado per sè e per i suoi dicendenti maschi legittimi in perpetuo. Pervenuto n tal guisa il Feudo predetto
