Paolo fu il primo della famiglia che nel secolo IX venne a stabilirsi a Venezia. La famiglia rimase fra le patrizie alla serrata del Maggior Consiglio nel 1927. Si segnalarono: Ubaldo detto anche Bernardo, senatore che fiorì nel secolo XIV, coprì molte cariche distinte, fu ambasciatore a varie Corti, tre volte a Costantinopoli. Pietro di Tomaso nel 1345 fu provveditore generale dell'armata, inviato contro le ribelle Zara, soccorsa dal re d'Ungheria, la sottomise. Andrea di Pietro nel 1511 fu provveditore delle milizie albanesi nell'Istria, difese Muggia e sconfisse Cristoforo Frangipane capitano imperiale; nel 1513 fu provveditore generale in Terraferma, tenne a freno gli Ungari, represse l'audacia dei turchi; nel 1528 recuperò molti luoghi della Puglia dalle mani del nemico, in favore dei collegati francesi; morì in Manfredonia e fu sepolto a Venezia nella Chiesa dei Carmini. Giuseppe di Antonio fu vescovo di Vicenza, dove morì nel 1669 e fu sepolto
