Antigua familia veneciana, de clara y ancestral virtud, que se ha extendido a lo largo de los siglos en varias regiones de Italia. El origen de este conocimiento, por decir lo menos de los genealogistas ilustres, debe buscarse en una modificación, debido a fenómenos de fonética dialectal, del personal medieval "Atzo" o "Azzo", probablemente perteneciente a un progenitor, hoy desconocido. En cualquier caso, esta familia obtuvo el título de caballero del Senado de la República de Serenissima de Venecia, en recompensa por la empresa, a la que asistieron un Rinaldo y un Lamberto Azzetti, en 1447, logrando repeler a las tropas del archiduque de Austria Sigismondo, más allá de las fronteras de la República. Pero, por otro lado, esta familia siempre logró distinguirse, gracias a los altos personajes, a los que dio a luz. Entre estos, sin arriesgar nada al valor de lo omitido, recordamos: Giacomo, protomédico de la República
