Antica ed assai nobile famiglia tedesca, originaria della Baviera, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni europee. La chiara nobiltà della famiglia Büchner è ulteriormente confermata dalla sua presenza in alcune delle più importanti opere europee di araldica, tra cui "Johann Siebmachers allgemeines großes und vollständiges Wappenbuch" dell'araldista tedesco Johann Siebmacher (1561-1611), essenziale riferimento per la conoscenza della nobiltà del Sacro Romano Impero, e "Armorial général" dell'araldista e genealogista olandese Johannes Rietstap, monumentale armoriale contenente le blasonature delle più importanti casate d'Europa. Il primo diploma di nobiltà porta la data nel 1470 e fu concesso a Heinrich Büchner, originario di Coburgo ma trasferitosi in Norimberga, dall'imperatore Federico III.
