Antichissima e nobilissima famiglia ligure da Genova passata nella Repubblica Argentina ove fu confermata nobile con l'arma: D'azzurro, ad una nave d'oro e un leone d'argento; col capo dell'impero. Il capo dell'impero ci conferma l'avita nobiltà europea della famiglia. I Bacigalupi o Bacigalupo furono trapiantati in Genova nel 1330. Il ramo genovese per le leggi del 1528 fu ascritto nella famiglia Pinelli. Antonio-Maria Bacigalupo fu Vescovo di Ventimiglia nel 1732.

D'azzurro, al lupo al naturale arrestato sopra una trappola, ossia un piano quadro tenuto sospeso da quattro funi, moventi dagli angoli del medesimo fino ad unirsi nel punto di mezzo della linea che separa il campo dal capo, il tutto d'oro: col capo d'oro all'aquila nascente di nero coronata dello stesso.
