Erano nobili napolitani, fuori seggio, come allora dicevasi, e l'albero genealogico della famiglia incomincia da Paolo che nell'anno 1417 comprò dai fratelli Giovanni e Pietro Origlia conti di Caiazzo i feudi di Lauriano, Trentola, Filraone e San Nicola alla Strada. Di questi feudi il predetto Paolo fu, dalla Regina Giovanna II, nominato capitano ovvero governatore, col mero e misto imperio. Dal diploma riportato dal Ricca, si rileva che il nome Paolo Bacio Terracina era famigliare della detta regina. Paolo sposò Teresa Capuano, del Sedile di Nido di Napoli, ed ebbe per figliuoli: Eliseo I ed Antonia che fu monaca nel Monastero della Maddalena di Napoli.
