Embora não exclua que o B. de Tortona e Alessandria são um ramo do B. homônimo de Parma, para onde se mudaram de Calestano em meados do século XIII. cujos personagens estavam presentes em Gênova e Ligúria envolvidos na vida pública desde 1157 (orig. local e sobrenomes da Rep. Genovesa, 37, 53, 262, 273,316, 317); em Lomellina Lanfranco Baiardo di Candiano aparece em 1181 entre os contribuintes e o jogo do agro pavese (Doc de Pavia relativo a Voghera, 65), Pietro B. e irmãos são proprietários de propriedades pertencentes ao mosteiro de S. Maiolo no território de S. Lorenzo (Pavia), como evidenciado pelos depoimentos sobre os bens em si, incluindo Gregorio Baiardo, que assinou o documento elaborado precisamente em S. Lorenzo em 4 de novembro de 1214 (cartões do mosteiro de S. Maiolo, 68 e segs); em Tortona, propriedade dos herdeiros do falecido Bernardo B., localizado na Porta S. Stefano,
