Alte und sehr edle spanische Prosapia, von klarer und angestammter Tugend, bekannt als Balle, Batlle oder Batle, ursprünglich aus Katalonien, verbreitete sich im Laufe der Jahrhunderte auf den Balearen und in Portugal. Nach Berichten berühmter Heraldiker ließ sich die Familie fünf Jahre nach der Eroberung der Insel durch die Aragonier, die zur Vertreibung der Mauren führte, auf Mallorca nieder. Pedro Balle, der erste Vertreter, von dem wir historische Nachrichten haben, erschien 1234 als Herr von Alaczarack in der Bergregion. Arnaldo Balle, Doktor beider Gesetze, unterzeichnete 1270 als Zeuge die Reliefs, die König Jakob II. für das mallorquinische Volk erlassen hatte. Arnaldo selbst erscheint 1280 als Berater des besagten Monarchen. Stattdessen war Berenguer Balle von 1332 bis 1349 Bischof von Mallorca. Der auf dem Festland verbliebene Zweig der Familie hatte seinen Hauptwohnsitz in Flaçà und wurde 1677 mit dem königlichen Privileg in seinem angestammten Adel bestätigt.
