Ancient and very noble Spanish prosapia, of clear and ancestral virtue, known as Balle, Batlle or Batle, originally from Catalonia, spread over the centuries in the Balearic Islands and in Portugal. According to what is reported by illustrious heraldists, the family settled in Mallorca five years after the Aragonese conquest of the island, which led to the expulsion of the Moors. Pedro Balle, the first exponent of whom we have historical news, in 1234, appeared as lord of Alaczarack, in the mountainous area. Arnaldo Balle, doctor of both laws, signed in 1270, as a witness, the reliefs established by King James II for the Majorcan people. Arnaldo himself, in 1280, appears as adviser to the said monarch. Berenguer Balle was instead Bishop of Mallorca from 1332 to 1349. The branch of the family that remained on the continent had its main residence in Flaçà and was confirmed in its ancestry
