Antigua familia patricia milanesa, que vistió el hábito de Malta en 1617 con Francesco y el de S. Stefano con Scipione en 1565. Rosa, esposa de Giulio Cesare, vicario de Provvisione, estableció a su sobrino Justiniano como heredero. El padre de este último, Giuseppe, jurisconsult colegiado, se casó con Rosa d'Esmandia, hija y heredera del marqués Don Michele, senador regente; en 1727, este último había sido investido con el feudo de Zelo Surigone para apoyar el título de marquesado, con el derecho de transmitirlo a su hija Rosa y sus hijos en orden de promoción masculina. Los C. figuran en la Lista oficial con los títulos de patricio milanés para hombres, de Marqués de Zelo Surigone, con transmisión masculina primigenia y con el tratamiento de don y mujer.
