Antica famiglia patrizia milanese, che vestì l'abito di Malta nel 1617 con Francesco e quello di S. Stefano con Scipione nel 1565. Rosa, moglie di Giulio Cesare, vicario di Provvisione, istituì erede il nipote Giustiniano. Il padre di quest'ultimo, Giuseppe, giureconsulto collegiato, sposò Rosa d'Esmandia, figlia ed erede del marchese don Michele, senatore reggente; questi nel 1727 era stato investito del feudo di Zelo Surigone per appoggiarvi il titolo marchionale, con facoltà di trasmettere i medesimi alla figlia Rosa e figli suoi in ordine di promogenitura maschile. I C. figurano iscritti nell'Elenco Ufficiale coi titoli di patrizio milanese per maschi, di marchese di Zelo Surigone, con trasmissione primogeniale mascolina e col trattamento di don e di donna.
