En la villa de Lequeitio, del partido judicial de Marquina (Vizcaya). Es casa oriunda de la inmediata anteiglesia de Mendeja, y enlazó con los ilustres linajes de Arteaga, Gamboa, Mendoza, Sicilia y Urriolabeitia. Son sus armas: Partido: primero, de gules, con tres bandas de plata, y segundo, de oro, con una torre de azur, aclarada de oro. Bordura general, componada de diez y seis piezas de los colores reales de Castilla y de León. Esta bordura fué concedida por el Emperador Carlos V, en 1528, en premio de los buenos servicios prestados por los valientes hijos de este solar.
