Apellido de Asturias. Tuvo su casa solar en la parroquia de Villavaler, del Ayuntamiento y partido judicial de Pravia. Don Juan del B., natural del Coto, jurisdicción de la parroquia de Villavaler, obtuvo ejecutoria de hidalguía en Valladolid en 29 de Diciembre de 1750. Consta en dicho documento que este caballero era hijodalgo notorio de sangre, como hijo legítimo de Juan del B., vecino de Madrid, y natural del citado Coto, y de doña Alejandra Pérez, natural de la villa de Brea de Tajo, provincia de Madrid; nieto de Alonso del B. el Mozo, vecino de Coto, y de doña Aldonza Álvarez, y bisnieto de Alonso del B. el Viejo, y de doña Dominga Menéndez Periella, naturales de Coto, donde todos fueron tenidos por hijosdalgo en los padrones que de siete en siete años se hacían. Hay también de este apellido en Galicia.
