With decree of 17 March 1927 SM Vittorio Emanuele III was pleased to grant the personal title of count to Enrico di Francesco, born in Lugo in 1854. He was his son the heroic aviator Francesco, major of cavalry, decorated with the military order of Savoy, bronze medal, two silver medals and gold medal during the great war, who died on 19 June 1818 in the battle of the Piave. The presence of the motto in the documented bibliography of the family confirms the ancestral nobility of the family. In fact, the origin of the motto dates back to around the 14th century and must be sought in those witty sayings that were written on the banners or flags of the knights, displayed on the windows of the inns where they stayed, during the tournaments, and during the tournaments themselves . Family motto: Ad maiora
