Este apellido tuvo su primitivo solar en el lugar de B. (cuyo nombre tomó, dándole distintas terminaciones), del partido judicial de Montblanc, provincia de Tarragona. Sus ramas, desde tiempos muy antiguos, pasaron a Marsella, y a las Baleares, y se extendieron por Cataluña, Aragón y Valencia. Guillermo de B., de la Orden de Predicadores, se halló en las Cortes de Monzón en 1236. Arnaldo de B., también de la Orden de Predicadores, fue testigo de una escritura de confederación que hicieron el rey aragonés don Jaime I "el Conquistador" y don Pedro Azagra, señor de Albarracín. Bernardo B. tomó parte en la conquista de Játiva con el citado monarca, y fue allí heredado. Gisber de B. figuró entre los caballeros conquistadores de Mallorca. Jaime B. vino de Marsella con una fragata, combatiendo en el mar a los moros de Mallorca, que favorecían a los de Valencia. Pedro de Barbará pasó
