Don Sancho Núñez era il figlio del conte Don Nuño de Celanova e nipote paterno del conte Don Teobaldo Núñez, uno degli uomini più illustri dell'epoca di Don Bermudo II de León. Doña Lucrecia B. de Caldas, sorella dell'Avvocato Gaspar Agustín B. de Caldas, Trustee-General di Tenerife nel 1612 e suo Perpetual Regidor nel 1615, era figlia di Juan Agustín B. de Caldas, della città di Cobra, Consiglio di Paredes tra Duero e Miño in Portogallo e sua moglie Doña María Sánchez de Encinoso. Si sposò nella Parrocchia di Los Remedios de La Laguna, (Tenerife), il 25 aprile 1615, con Don Juan de Meza Luzardo y Porras, Capitano della fanteria spagnola, Regidor Perpetuo, decano di Tenerife e Guardiano del castello principale di Santa Attraversare. Le sue figlie furono: Doña María, Doña Ana de Santa Lucía, Doña Juana de la Pasión e Doña Francisca de la Trinidad de Mesa B. deCaldas y Porras, tutte nate a San Cristóbal de la Laguna; gli ultimi tre hanno professato come religiosi a Santa Clara di detta Città. Doña María, capo, capo e parente più anziano della Casa de Mesa, sposò suo zio, il cugino di secondo padre di suo padre, il sergente maggiore Don Alvaro de Mesa e Azoca.
