Está localizado a poucos quilómetros da cidade do Porto, junto ao Pazo de Sousa e ao rio Douro. Don Sancho Núñez, era filho do conde Don Nuño de Celanova e neto paterno do conde Don Teobaldo Núñez, um dos homens mais ilustres da época de Don Bermudo II de León. Dona Lucrecia B. de Caldas, irmã do advogado Gaspar Agustín B. de Caldas, Administrador-Geral de Tenerife em 1612 e seu Regimento Perpétuo em 1615, era filha de Juan Agustín B. de Caldas, da cidade de Cobra, Conselho de Paredes entre Duero e Miño em Portugal e sua esposa Dona María Sánchez de Encinoso. Casou-se na paróquia de Los Remedios de La Laguna (Tenerife), em 25 de abril de 1615, com Don Juan de Meza Luzardo y Porras, capitão da infantaria espanhola, Regidor Perpetuo, decano de Tenerife e diretor do castelo principal de Santa Cruz. Suas filhas foram: Dona Maria, Dona Ana de Santa Lucía, Dona Juana da Pasión e Dona Francisca da Trinidad de Mesa B. de Caldas e Porras, todas nascidas em San Cristóbal da Laguna; os três últimos professaram como religiosos em Santa Clara da referida cidade. Dona María, chefe, chefe e parente mais velha da Casa de Mesa, casou-se com seu tio, primo em segundo grau de seu pai, o sargento-mor Don Álvaro de Mesa e Azoca.
