Il est originaire de Trieste et est passé à Venise avec les Barbanos et Barbarigos. En un temps différent, il obtint la dignité de tribunicien. Inscrits au conseil noble en 1297, ils s'éteignirent en 1361. De nombreuses familles qui vivaient à Venise appartenaient à la noblesse. Dans le Livre d'Or de la noblesse vénitienne et dans le Patriciat vénitien après la guerre de Candie et le Lockout du Conseil Majeur de 1646, événements qui ont laissé une renommée immortelle pour sa grande sagesse politique et ses vertus citadines, on retrouve cette illustre famille. Sur la base d'anciennes chroniques existant dans la bibliothèque Marciana et dans les archives de l'État, jusqu'ici inédites; et contrairement à ce que Freschot a publié dans sa Nobiltà Veneta, lesdits ouvrages sont impartiaux quant à l'origine de certaines familles, assumée par le patriciat vénitien.
