La famiglia antica ed originaria di Piacenza, possedeva, la maggior parte del suo patrimonio nel comune di Monticelli d'Ongina fin da quando questa borgata faceva parte della diocesi di Cremona. Da un atto seguito avanti Nicola Sfrondrato, vescovo di Cremona, che fu poi Gregorio XIV, ricevuto dal not. Giacomo Vitali li 4 aprile 1577, si vede qualificato Giulio, abitante in Monticelli d'Ongina, del titolo di nobile. Nell'atto ricevuto dal not. piacentino Pietro Francesco il 5 maggio 1602 si riscontra qualificato del titolo di magnifico e di nobile Carlo dottore in legge. Carlo Pompeo, e Angelo, suo figlio, il 4 luglio 1727 ricevettero una patente di famigliarità dal duca Antonio Farnese per i servigi resi allo Stato. Angelo, poeta arcadico, con patente del 4 agosto 1751 del duca D. Filippo di Borbone, interminato dalla comunità di Piacenza il 10 nov. dello stesso anno, fu insignito del titolo di nobiltà per se
