Ancienne et très noble famille sicilienne appelée Bardaro mais aussi écrit Bardari répandu, au cours des siècles, dans différentes régions d'Italie. L'historien et héraldiste Don Philadelfio Mugnos écrivit à propos de cette ancienne famille en 1647 : "A l'époque du roi Frédéric II, alors qu'il vivait dans une longue guerre avec les Français, de nombreux nobles soldats de Lombardie passèrent d'Italie, parmi lesquels, qui restèrent en Sicile, nous lisons Philippe, qui obtint alors de ce roi la Castellania de Salem, et du roi Pietro II quelques territoires, auxquels succéda plus tard son fils Antonio.
